Two-Niner Riding
My first impressions of the new Stumpy 29'r are good after two rides that had me on the saddle for five hours. It's been a while since I've been on a hardtail and it will take a few rides to train myself to stand more when the trail gets rough vs. letting my S-Works Epic soak up everything in a lazy sort of way. The Stumpy climbs good, rolls over just about any trail obstacle within reason, and handled fine through the tight singletrack sections at Standing Rocks County Park. This bike has revitalized my late Fall riding enthusiasm, where in the past I've struggled to make it through October. Before the IceMan in November I hope to have the bugs worked out with a set-up that I like and any personal spec changes that I want. Today I was even daydreaming about rigid carbon forks and changing out the right side dropout to make the Stumpy into a singlespeed that is possible with this frame. Pedal on...
