Recovering
This week has been all about recovering from the terrible battle I had with a flu virus last week. It started on Monday at 6am getting beat up at the spinning class and feeling like I had been dropped off the back of the peloton in a room full of stationary exercise bikes. It continued throughout the work day with nothing but bad e-mails dealing with defective parts and all sorts of customer issues. Tuesday was my day off with high hopes of the temperature at least hitting 30 degrees and maybe getting Mikee to accompany me on a 2 hour training ride. Mikee stood me up, and I was on my own to battle half frozen gravel roads on my trustworthy steel cyclocross bike. The ride was well worth the solo effort, but next time I will eat a more nutritious lunch before heading out and running out of fuel with a few miles left. Thank whoever for the creation of energy gels! Today showed lots of promise as my team jersey was approved by my sponsor Rudy Rack and the art work was submitted to Champion System custom jerseys that has become a 2006 WORS Series sponsor. My promising day came to a abrupt halt after having closed down the store I stepped outside the employee entrance door, set down my GPS unit to acquire satellite signals, and the locked door closed behind me. Thankfully another employee was still in the parking lot with keys and rescued me before I froze to death. The new store location is great until you get locked out and you realize it could have turned into a 1/2 mile walk to the local Wal-Mart for survival on this cold Wednesday evening. Tomorrow can only get better.
