Ride First, Work Later

This morning I peeled myself out of bed with enough time to get some riding in at Standing Rocks. It was the first ride on my fully rigid Stumpy 29'er and I think that I'm now a true believer in suspension after having my bad right shoulder jack hammered repeatedly throughout the ride. Riding a full suspension bike for 24 hours with five inches of travel has definitely softened me up this season. Pedal on...

A little irony here. I just put a WB Rock Solid onto the Superfly and went riding yesterday. Our local course is somewhat like Standing Rocks in that there are plenty of rocks (more than the average WORS course). Perhaps it's the 5 weeks of rigid CX practice but I actually liked the overall ride. Picking lines and weight placement became a bit more important. And yes, the jarring was harsh at times but not enough for me to slow down. Time will tell. Iceman for certain.
