Not a whole lot to report on this weekends LumberJack 100 as I had a day I would rather forget and decided it best to pull the plug after 50 miles of suffering. Some reoccurring past issues surfaced and I decided it was best to park my bike and not do further damage. My Specialized 29'r Stumpjumper rode flawlessly even after a high speed brush with a large tree (my Ergon barends saved me as I did my best one handed bull riding imitation), hub deep swamp water(the Hayes CarbonStroker Brakes stopped great even submerged under water) and with a bit of sand here and there (my Russell built SUNringle wheels with Specialized Captain tires floated through). For the rest of the race I tried to help Chris Strout and Brad Majors from the World Bicycle Relief team out if needed. They both had great races finishing inside the top 20 I believe. Way to go guys!
The weekend wasn't completely lost as we visited with my family and Laura's dad met us on Saturday night for dinner and pool play time for the kids. We eventually decided to take the long way home over the Mackinaw Bridge and ended up getting sidetracked and found this huge hillside sandbox to let the kids play in. Sometimes being a dad is easier than being on a bike saddle for hours...

I feel your pain, but glad you had the family there to make a nice weekend out of it. I think we have had enough rain and mud to last us 10 seasons. May be up this weekend.
