Chilled
Yesterday I pulled the Waterford down, aired up the tires, and headed out the door for a longer commute to work in the morning and was punished severely. I nearly froze as I went too light on my clothing choices with the temps just below freezing with a slight wind out of the west. It's time once again to dig out the Lake winter shoes, covers, insulated gloves and warmer tights when you see ice in the farm fields. The first few minutes in the shower was very painful on my bright red toes and fingers. I thought working retail on Saturdays was painful, but not compared to thawing out body parts in the shower. The warm feeling you get as the hot water first hits quickly turns to what I would describe as the pin cushion effect of pins and needles being stuck between your toes as the blood tries to flow at a manageable temp again. Not an enjoyable ride experience for the record.
Today I'm back on the 29'r again as I ride out to the Rocks to meet a few others to get another good day of singletrack riding in. The trails close November 15th for the season and this will probably be one of my last chances on the big wheeler before the IceMan next weekend. Pedal on...
