Flatted Out-DNF
With what seemed to be a good first lap, my luck changed in a flash when my rear tire lost air instantly as I climbed a small rise half way through the quick five mile lap. What can you do but laugh when something like this happens. I purposely didn't carry a tube and C02 with me today as I've only had one flat in the last three years. Last week I was to busy to convert my new wheel set to tubeless thinking again that the chances were very slim to none that I'd flat. So much for not carrying tools and a tube. My legs and stomach were good today with no issues to report. Instead of driving home after the race, I elected to ride my mountain bike the 22 miles home on the quiet back roads of Central Wisconsin. With my knobby tires humming, I clipped off an average speed of 17.5 mph as I tried to pedal away some of my frustrations as I thought about my DNF. This next week will be a huge break from the bike as I head to InterBike in Vegas for six days of bike products and accessories that will make even the biggest bike addicts drool. I'm going to attempt to post daily pics from the show if I have time and access to the internet. Congrats to Marko and Jesse for sweeping the top two positions today at Iola. From distance running when they attended UWSP, to their many accomplishments in mountain bike racing. These two guys are amazing athletes.
