Sunshine?
Last night I made it to the weekly road ride under the darkening skies and somewhat dry roads. For the sake of the farmers and anyone else who needs rain it has definitely made an appearance here in central Wisconsin over the last four to five days. My ride was nothing spectacular as only three elected to ride in the faster group. We clicked off forty miles at a conversational average speed of 20+ after a slow start through town before settling in with a few good efforts thrown in. It felt good getting out on the road bike with others, but as an endurance freak I mostly enjoy my rides by myself with only my solo ear bud from my iPod Shuffle keeping me company with my tunes in the early morning hours. Sometimes the politics of group rides ruin it for me along with wanting to get out on my schedule instead of waiting all day-off for the weather to turn bad. Bad late afternoon weather has happened to me a few times this summer. Usually while running errands and taking care of household chores the weather is great. Throw on the Lycra kit and the Weather Channel flashes a t-storm warning and the heavens open up. What gives? Tonight I'm attending a training class for possibly leading a future endurance spinning session in the winter at the new Adventure 212 fitness center that is located next to the Hostel Shoppe. Maybe indoor cycling is the answer for my weather related depression or I need to just get my rain jacket out and get my ass wet as sometimes I feel faster on wet roads as I hydroplane along trying to out run the storm. I'm pretty sure that I won't melt after all the wet WORS races this season. Enough thoughtless blogging, go ride...
