Break Time
Today starts my three day hiatus away from bike riding as work will suck up any extra time I usually would have for training. I had intentions of a long bike commute, but the hauling of coolers and folding chairs are difficult to fit into my overfilled Dakine backpack. This weekend is our Midwest Recumbent Rally that the Hostel Shoppe hosts and I believe that it is year 14 for this event. Starting yesterday it was already crazy with people arriving from out of town to checkout our almost new location and to get out on the newest recumbent bikes before the 300 or so other registered participants get into town for the first day of riding, eating, talking about their bikes and the seminars. I'll be glad early Sunday morning when I climb behind the wheel of our car with my brother and head off to be a spectator at the AMA Millville outdoor motocross national. I'm going to sit myself down in a good spot and watch Ricky Carmichael and James "Bubba" Stewart duke it out in the dirt while dreaming of twisting a throttle instead of pedaling in circles for once. Of course, next Monday will see me refocusing on the bike again as Subaru Cup is fast approaching and I still need to clean up my 50 pound bike from the Alterra mudfest. Good luck to all those racing at O2S and at the Levis 100!
