Lights
It's funny how you can pass the same people on your daily commute and once the weather warms up to a balmy 40 degrees a guy finally yells for you to stop. He only wanted to know about my front light, and how he thought a car with one headlight was on the bike path a few nights ago heading towards him when he was walking. I explained that it was the NightRider Rage light and that it had a rechargeable battery, not generator powered. I told him that the Hostel Shoppe sold a variety of lights from LED's to the model I have. He thanked me and continued on his way. It makes you wonder what people think when you commute by bike when the weather is miserable. Some probably think that I have no drivers license. Some feel sorry for me which makes the warm car they drive seem even better while burning expensive petro and adding to the our great quality of air outside that we breath. I feel good about my daily commute as I see the gas prices rise and fall as I pass the local BP station. Saving money and being healthy are just a few of the answers I give people when they ask about my commuting. We have a perfect community for commuting and only a handful of people take advantage of it. Too bad they don't realize what can be gained with a little effort and planning.
