CYCLOCROSS
Today's WCA cross race in Verona was a welcome change from the WORS series. Very laid back, but still very competitive. I started my day off bad in the 40+ Masters division when my chain broke during the first lap while in 2nd place. At first, I thought it was just another wasted raceday until Mike Waisbrot salvaged it by driving to his home nearby to get a chain. Fortunately, I was allowed to enter the 30+ Masters race an hour later and finished 7th with no bike problems, only blistered hands from the rough hour long race. My race went better than expected as I was with the lead group of four through the first five laps before getting dropped and settling into my own pace. I'm looking forward to a few more cross races this Fall if my work schedule permits.
