Alpine Valley WORS Race Report

Finishing strong at Alpine Valley today is always a plus with a 17th overall in the Elite field and 2nd place for the second time in as many races in my age category. The race went by fairly quickly for some reason as I had fellow racers Mountain Goat and The Blond Jesus(Ray) around me most of the five laps. It always helps to have guys like the above mentioned around who you can trust with picking good lines in the rutted and wet stream crossings when you're desperately trying to keep up with them, except for a minor tree collision by MG that I witnessed while behind him that should have been captured digitally for future photo archives. I also had a bark and flesh moment as a slower Comp race moved to the Right after I called out PASSING on the RIGHT. It only stung for a few seconds along with a few choice words that I chose to keep to myself. Overall today was a great test for my Specialized Epic S-Works as it handled the excellent course laid out by the Skinny's Team without any problems except for having an old guy for the pilot.

Next up on the list of race priorities, is trying to figure out how to get an entry for the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival this year. This would have been my 12th straight year and who knows if my attempt at a letter(50 Ways to Ride the Chequamegon)for an entry form will humor Mr. Crandall. If anyone can help, please contact me.

Looks like it was a good day. Really like the retro Specialized jersey.
